HC tells SIT to produce woman ‘detained’ in Deoria shelter home

Allahabad: Acting on a petition filed by means of a man claiming that her wife is illegally lodged in Deoria shelter house, the Allahabad top court has directed the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to supply the alleged detenu before the court on February 27. SIT is investigating allegations that a intercourse racket was once being operated from the stated house.

The court passed this order while hearing a habeas corpus petition filed by means of the man from Mumbai, claiming to be the woman’s husband, tough that she may be set free from detention of government.


In his petition, the petitioner took the plea that one of the ladies, who was once allegedly victim of sexual harassment at Deoria shelter house, is his wife and could also be a major. Hence, she cannot be detained indefinitely all the way through the investigation of case and, therefore, will have to be set free by means of the government concerned. Having heard claims of the petitioner, a division bench comprising Chief Justice Govind Mathur and Justice Saurabh Shyam Shamshery directed the SIT officers to supply the detained girl before it on February 27, the next date of hearing.
