Since the establishment of the camp, safety workforce are running steadily within the area,” said SP (Malkangiri) Jagmohan Meena.


According to intelligence assets, recently round 70 to 80 armed Maoists divided into four teams are running within the Swabhiman area with a majority of the cadres being from Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. The percentage of Odia cadres has dipped to a single digit, said a senior police legit of Malkangiri. Police are hopeful that more surrenders will take place within the days to come back. “We appeal to the Maoists to enroll in the mainstream and avail the advantages of the state govt’s give up coverage,” the DIG said.


He said the Maoists have realised that they aren't going to succeed in anything else by way of wielding the gun. “It is anticipated that more Maoists will give up. But we can't be complacent. Their activities are being intently monitored,” Lal said.
