Conwoman who duped bizman of Rs 14L arrested

MUMBAI: The Malad police on Tuesday took custody of a 32-year-old conwoman and arrested her for allegedly cheating a businessman of Rs 14 lakh closing year. Payal Samuel, an engineering dropout from Bhopal, had been arrested via the Delhi crime branch on August 15, 2018, for allegedly cheating a commute agent. She was once lodged in Tihar jail.

Malad police senior inspector George Fernandes said: “The Delhi police passed over her custody in our case on Tuesday.” He said Samuel took to crime to lead a sumptuous life. Armed with high-end telephones and hired luxury automobiles, she would introduce herself because the vice-president of a Mumbai-based firm and duped businessmen and jewellers around the nation.


In the Malad case, the police said Samuel introduced the complainant, Brijesh Pandey, a high commission for 100 silver pendants that her firm would reward its clientele and disappeared. Pandey filed the complaint on July 6, 2018.


The police said closing year, she had duped a Bhopal jeweller of 14 gold cash. She then shifted base to Delhi where she cheated a commute company proprietor who gave her US greenbacks, air tickets and resort bookings price Rs 30 lakh on credit. Samuel had additionally been jailed for three months for cheating a Bhopal businessman of Rs 5 lakh in 2012 via purchasing oil cans on a forged cheque.
