Sensex loses 154 points, markets finish in red for fifth straight day

NEW DELHI: Benchmark fairness indices Sensex and Nifty finished wit losses for the 5th immediately consultation as world and home cues weighed down investor sentiments.

30-share BSE Sensex lost 154.60 issues to close at 38,157.92 while the wider 50-share NSE Nifty closed at 11,520.30, down 62.05 issues.


The indices opened in the crimson in morning, recovered to a point in mid-day industry before slipping again in the remaining hour.


Weakness in rupee and rising fuel costs took toll on investor sentiments on the home front. Besides, world cues like fear of a foreign money disaster in Turkey and Argentina spreading to different portions of the arena and the lingering concern of industry struggle additionally performed their portions in dragging the market mood.


Apart from Nifty IT, which received 2 consistent with cent, all different sectoral sub-indices finished with losses.


Infosys, TCS, Wipro and Axis Bank had been the major gainers.
