Puri temple to charge for darshan from close

BHUBANESWAR: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) in Puri on Monday introduced the introduction of a ticketed darshan system within the 12th century shrine. While the existing system of a unfastened darshan of the temple's deities will stay unaffected, the tickets will probably be introduced for at least 4 times a day to allow devotees, who want to catch a glimpse of the deities from a detailed distance.

"We have formed a committee to fix the price of the ticket. Though devotees can have a darshan of the deities for free, ticket holders will be able to go right up to the front without any hassle. The timing of the daily ticketed darshan will be decided by the committee," SJTA's leader administrator Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra instructed TOI.
